Mike Gravel does not have very much attention. Three weeks ago, he released two "metaphoric" videos that were meant to "have a message to give about [his] campaign." Rock, the first video, starred Gravel tossing a rock into a pond. The camera focuses on a monk-like Gravel, silently staring down the camera, before he tosses a rock into a pond. Gravel hopes the video represents him as "an ordinary citizen who's trying to make a difference by doing something and [this] causes ripples in society." Because this is the senator's primary focus in his campaign, the attention he is receiving from MSNBC and Jon Stewart is exactly what the campaigner is looking for.
The YouTube videos are largely a response to the Democratic Pary, as well as mainstream media's, marginalization of the Alaskan senator. Gravel's exclusion from the debates results in the senator resorting to YouTube videos to reach his voters. As a response to this, Gravel's campaign focues has recentered on voters under 30.

Keep up on Mike by discussing each week's new youtube videos he puts up. Clearly, he has to make a decision what he wants to talk about each week. Why does he choose to discuss what he chooses to discuss? What does it have to do with what's being discussed across the country that week? Or is he bringing something up to try to change the story?
While I think that this video is certainly... interesting... I don't really think that Gravel is going to hook in the voters that he wants if they continue on like this "rock" video.
The video's message, when viewed on its own, which would be the common thing for the average citizen, would be far too convoluted. Personally, after watching this video, I would be frightened to see the voter who could sit and watch Gravel simply stand or walk around like he does for the entirety of these minutes.
However, on the other hand, it'll be interesting to follow the polls and see if these youtube videos do end up turning over some votes in Gravel's favor.
In my opinion the youtube videos are certainly working because they are bringing attention to him. In Gravel's case i think this sort of attention is good for him because he isn't very well known, and this sort of publicity might put him more on the radar. It is certain that this strategy will prove effective because we are talking about it right now!! Perhaps another good idea is to put those videos on television.
